What are some of your favorite childhood moments?
My favorite childhood memories are spending time with my Grandfather Joe. We would take long walks and I would collect rocks that I would make up stories about and he would listen as if everything I said was fascinating to him. I also loved family time with my parents. They were hands-on, reading to me, and also taking me to historical sites, movies, plays, etc.
Do you remember the first story you told your friends in grade school?
I told one that revolved around a Native American burial ground. I used to tell it to them during recess.
Why did you choose to write paranormal/fantasy/adventure romance novels?
They are also some of my favorite books to read. So I thought I'd try my hand at writing them. Though I also love Regency romance and mysteries.
Where did you rescue your dogs from?
I've been rescuing dogs since I was a child. I started by just adopting strays that showed up. Lately, I've adopted from rescue groups, though my last two came from a nearby dog pound.
How did you begin writing the Sons of Pendragon series?
I've been fascinated with King Arthur since I was small. From there it was just asking myself, what if?
What challenges did you face while writing your first book, "Dragon's Grace"?
Just trying to get my alternate world fixed in my mind. What Halflings can and can't do. Little things that could make a big difference to the story if I get them wrong. Or don't remember them for subsequent books. Continuity is important.
Who inspired the character of Brennan Pendragon in "Dragon's Grace"?
No one person. Just the hero ideal. Though I did use photos of Gabriel Aubry for inspiration when describing him.
What, to you, is an ideal setting or environment for a good writing session?
The ideal setting is sitting in my favorite chair with my lapboard holding my tablet and favorite tunes playing in the background. But I can pretty much write anywhere I have paper and pen.
What sparked the idea for your book, Dragon's Heir?
I had the idea for the entire series. Seven sons of King Arthur are brought forward in time from around the time he's killed. It's done for their protection, but also because they still have a part to play in the Light vs. Darkness battle. Dragon's Heir was actually supposed to be the first but ended up being the second.
How does writing make you feel? When you're not writing, what does a normal day for you look like?
My favorite thing to do is write. I love writing! But right now, I still need a paying day job. I'm a Title Abstractor. That means that I search court records for the several attorneys for whom I work. When a person buys a house or takes out a loan, an attorney will hire me to make sure that the property owner has no liens against them.
How helpful do you think book launches are in the sale of the books?
I think they can help a great deal. Especially, when the writer can sell them at a reduced price for a few weeks or a month.
What is something that people don’t usually know about being an author?
I'm not sure. Perhaps, that many of us are introverts and it takes a lot for us to put ourselves out there, so to speak. I'm shy so trying to do some of the advertising is difficult for me.
Which is the next book you are working on? Is it a series or a stand-alone book?
The next book is titled Holding Out For A Hunter. It's a stand-alone, but also the first in my companion series--The Hunter Chronicles--to Sons of Pendragon. I hope to have it for sale around the end of September or sometime in October. It's at the editor now. And I'm waiting on the cover art, too.
Are you working on anything at the present you would like to share with your readers about?
I'm currently working on the 4th or 5th book in The Hunter Chronicles series. I already have 2 & 3 waiting to go to my editor.
What are your thoughts on AllAuthor? Is this a website you see yourself using for some time even in the future?
I like AllAuthor. I see myself using it for quite a while. I love the tools for making book ads and the scheduled tweets and posts are a huge help. I would love to see readers be able to pick 1-5 stars for the books. Not reviews, but just a place where they could leave a star review.
