Growing up in Southern California, how did the surf, sun, and beach culture shape your storytelling style?
It’s definitely a vibe. After living it, it found its way into my stories. My style is writing from a beach locals point of view.
You describe your stories as “Brain Twinkies”—what does that term mean to you as writer?They are fun food for the brain.
What draws you to writing fiction that offers readers an escape, even if just for a moment?I hope my stories take readers to another place. I want them to feel the surroundings I describe and travel there in their minds.
Can you describe the feeling you hope readers experience when they finish one of your stories?Scared, hopeful, relatable.
How does reading under the sun influence your creativity or writing process?being outdoors is a motivator. Reading with the warm sun on your skin and a breeze in your hair makes my mind wander and ideas form.
Are there specific beach memories or moments that have inspired scenes in your work?in one of my books I took situations that happened to different people I knew in high school and created a single character from them. Most of the moments were during fun summers at the beach.
What themes do you find yourself returning to most often in your fiction?Surfing and crime
How do you balance light, entertaining storytelling with meaningful emotional depth?It is all in creating the characters I hope they are believable, so when things happen to them readers take away a messsge or feeling.

What does your typical writing day look like—are you more of a “beach writer” or an indoor creator?I do my writing indoors at night.
How do you come up with ideas for your “Brain Twinkies”?watching reading and experiencing. As I am out and about I see things that spark ideas.
What role does setting play in your stories, especially considering your coastal upbringing?Setting plays a lot. I write about places and things I have seen.
Do you write with a specific type of reader in mind?No I write what comes to my mind and hope I can entice readers.
What has been the most rewarding part of your writing journey so far?That people enjoy my stories. Hearing feed back and their desire to read more.
What has your AllAuthor experience been like so far? What are some highlights?It has been good. Because of the posts I have had feedback from groups I would not have reached on my own.
