Vincent Panettiere
BIOGRAPHY

Vincent Panettiere was not born in a trunk at the Princess Theatre in Pocatello, Idaho, but in Brooklyn, NY.

He graduated from St. John’s University and went to graduate school at Boston University. After college he became a sports writer for the wire service United Press International (UPI) and later wrote for the Boston Herald, a major daily newspaper in that city before Rupert Murdochized it.

After holding executive positions at Westinghouse Broadcasting, CBS and Xerox he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a screen writer. Four of his scripts were optioned but not produced, one by Twentieth Century Fox and the others by now-defunct production companies.

He became a licensed and bonded literary agent representing writers and directors in television and films. He made deals for writers and directors on TV series, including Xena, The Untouchables and Babylon 5. He was also instrumental in the production of two independent feature films and the sale of numerous indie/MOW film scripts.

During the same time, Panettiere was certified by the Major League Baseball Players Association to serve as an agent for major league and professional baseball players. Clients he represented played in the major leagues for the Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals.

Objecting to the standard means of financing independent films, Panettiere sought non-traditional funding for his writer/director clients. His journey through the murky world of cyberspace was chronicled in his first book The Internet Financing Illusion published in 2007.

Next, Panettiere turned to fiction. In A Woman to Blame, Panettiere created the character of Chicago police detective Mike Hegan. This was followed by the award-wining and critically-acclaimed These Thy Gifts; a second novel featuring Hegan, The Scopas Factor; The Music of Women and his latest novel Shared Sorrows.

He continues to live in Los Angeles and has eaten dinner in Pocatello, Idaho.

He began his career as a sports reporter for the UPI wire service. He is the author of the award-winning and critically acclaimed These Thy Gifts. Born in Brooklyn, NY, which is your most cherished childhood memory?

My favorite memory when I lived in Brooklyn as a child was to climb the cannonballs next to a Civil War-era cannon. The cannon was located in a park overlooking the waters of the Narrows in Lower New York Harbor.

Do you remember the first story you put to paper when you were in high school?

I remember writing a story but have no recollection of the substance; only that I sent it to two "woman's magazines" (at the time kept near the cash registers at supermarkets.) I got an encouraging rejection note which I kept in my wallet for years. I have no idea where it is now; may have been thrown out.

How has been your experience of writing for the Boston Herald?

I wrote for the Boston Herald part time while going to graduate school at Boston University. I loved the energy of writing on deadline. I also discovered how to make a "cheese egg" in the cafeteria - cook an egg, put a slice of cheese on it. Voila!

How do you think becoming a sports writer for the wire service United Press International has helped you shape into an author?

As far as being a sports writer for UPI, it was another experience of writing with precision as was also required at the Boston Herald.

How has your writing changed over time? What has been a major influence on you as a writer?

I haven't paid any attention to how my writing has changed; nor am I conscious of being influenced by others.

Who is your favorite character in the "A Woman to Blame"?

My favorite character in A Woman To Blame is Mike Hegan, the main character. When he is convinced a wrong is determined to find the truth.

What is the significance of the title of your book, The Scopas Factor?

Scopas is a little known sculptor from ancient Greece. The discovery of a new work by Scopas is used to attract and apprehend art forgers.

What inspired you to turn to fiction?

I've always wanted to write novels, but life got in the way.

Which of your books took the longest time to write and why?

These Thy Gifts took more than a year. I can't remember the reason, but am very pleased with the results.

What was your reaction when your novel, These Thy Gifts won an award?

I am always pleased whenever TTG is critically acclaimed. How else could I be?

What are your techniques to improve writing?

I have no techniques except for applied concentration.

What is the most ideal ambiance for you to write in?

Ambience, Shambience! When an idea areives you write it down, no matter where you are.

What does Vincent Panettiere's weekend look like?

None of your business.

How do you keep your books from getting dull? What are awesome tips for brainstorming that you use?

Have no idea how to answer this. BTW Who says my books are dull?

What are your thoughts on AllAuthor? Is this a website you see yourself using for sometime even in the future?

I love the book mock ups and hope I can work with all Author in the future.
