"Tysheka Wright, born and raised in the small city of New Ellenton, South Carolina—affectionately known as Dodge City—is a devoted mother and proud grandmother of twins. She wrote “Someone Else” in obedience to the Holy Spirit, aiming to inspire men and women to make better life choices. In her spare time, she cherishes moments with her family and finds joy in Sunday church services. Passionate about personal and spiritual growth, her greatest dream is to share “Someone Else” with readers around the world."
How has your faith in God shaped your journey as an author?

My faith in God has shaped my journey as an author by allowing me to be confident to share my story. He gave me instructions to share so that I will be a blessing to someone who’s lost! He didn’t bring me this far to leave or forsake me. He has purpose for my testimony.

What specific moments in your life led you to fully trust in God and surrender to His plan?

The specific moment which lead me too Christ is when my friend passed away in 2020. I knew I couldn’t continue to live with my addictions to drinking and sexual immorality, or I would be drowning in my own sin . As I se in my car in grief after his funeral, God said he can deliver me right from where I was, but I had to trust him!

Can you share a scripture or biblical principle that has been foundational to your writing and life philosophy?

Isaiah 54:17- No weapon against me shall prosper!

How do you incorporate your love for God into your writing?

I incorporated my love for God in my writing by sharing the trials I experienced and not feel ashamed or condemned. He is the ultimate judge.

How do you stay spiritually grounded and inspired while working on your projects?

I stay spiritually grounded by staying around like believers and incorporating daily fellowship with him! I’m currently enrolled in two discipleship classes that’s is helping me grow more closer to my Father.

What message do you hope readers take away from your book, “Someone Else: This Is My Story” and how does it reflect your faith?

The message I pray that readers take away from my story is to not go down the same path! Stop, give your life over to my Father he will make a way out of no way! Without my Father you are nothing. Stay connected to the Vine and you will bear much fruit!

It reflects my faith by wanting to grow further because it grows further than the surface, it’s something spiritual. I know God has beyond what my imagination receive and I want it!

Were there any challenges you faced in aligning your writing with God’s purpose for you? How did you overcome them?

Yes, financially, but I trusted God in it by supplying what I needed to have my manuscript reviewed. He didn’t fail me and did over and beyond! I was super satisfied with Ellyn Franklin for her developmental editing because she pulled some moments out of me to put into my manuscript.

How has trusting in God helped you grow as an author and a person?

Trusting God help me grow as a person by learning to trust in him with all my heart and lean not on my understanding and all my ways, not some but all, and he will direct my path. I did it my way so long and wasn’t going anywhere. I was spinning in circles. I’m allowing God to direct in all areas of my life.

How do you handle criticism or setbacks in your writing career while remaining steadfast in your faith?

Whew! Long as I’m on this earth, the flesh wrestle with my spirit, the spirit with the flesh. I’m learning to cry to Hosana to show me your truth to overcome the hurdle. He has directed me to my knees with my petitions.

How do you see your writing as part of the work God has called you to do?

I see my writing as part of the work God has called me to do by people knowing me where I came from as a sinner, and I walk and talk different. I’m striving to bear fruit! The greatest commandment is that I love everyone no matter the situation.

God wants people too see there is no problem to big or small for him to handle!

What feedback or reactions from readers have confirmed for you that you are fulfilling His purpose?

I have had readers reach out to me because they are inspired by the content I put on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. I put inspiring reels about my journey encouraging them their is hope! They say my reels are encouraging and now I talk to those individuals! You see, it’s a two way street. I need them just as they need me for encouragement and inspiration! Iron sharpens iron!

Who are some people or experiences that have influenced your faith and writing the most?

Some people that have influenced my writing the most is The Resilient Black Women on Clubhouse and the SpeakUpSis community! I asked God to place me around people moving in the same direction I was! I asked and he delivered! A true group of encouraging women!

What treasures are you storing up for heaven through your writing?

The treasures Im storing up in heaven through my writing are spreading positive messages that uplift my readers! My message will let them see how I operate and they will want to have a personal relationship with my Father.

What advice would you give to aspiring authors who want to write with faith and purpose as their foundation?
